On Wednesday’s episode of NXT, Adam Cole will explain why he turned against his Undisputed Era stablemate Kyle O’Reilly.
Cole sent out a tweet today announcing that he will explain his actions on Wednesday night: “This Wednesday on NXT…I explain everything. And it’s a lot more than just ‘why’…”
The show-closing angle of TakeOver: Vengeance Day this past Sunday saw Cole lay out NXT Champion Finn Balor and O’Reilly with superkicks. After Balor retained his NXT Championship against Pete Dunne in the main event of the show, he was attacked by Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch. Lorcan, Burch, and Dunne then beat down Balor until Undisputed Era’s Cole, O’Reilly, and Roderick Strong ran out to make the save.
O’Reilly helped Balor up and told him how much he respects him. Undisputed Era posed at the end of TakeOver and Balor was about to do his own pose, but Cole dropped him with a superkick. O’Reilly was furious at Cole and then got superkicked by him as well.
Strong looked conflicted between his Undisputed Era stablemates after what Cole had done. O’Reilly demanded an explanation from Cole at the start of this week’s NXT, but Cole didn’t come to the ring. Strong instead came down and tried to keep the peace between Undisputed Era. Balor also came out to the ring, with an attack by Dunne, Lorcan, and Burch then setting up O’Reilly, Strong & Balor vs. Dunne, Lorcan & Burch for the main event.
Dunne, Lorcan & Burch defeated O’Reilly, Strong & Balor after Cole got involved. Cole pushed Balor off the top rope as he was going for the Coup de Grace, then laid out O’Reilly with a pump kick and a brainbuster on the steel steps. There was a miscommunication between Balor and Strong at the end of the match where Balor accidentally gave Strong a Pele kick. After the match, Cole superkicked Balor and posed with Balor’s NXT Championship.
Karrion Kross vs. Santos Escobar is also set for Wednesday’s episode of NXT. Plus, Xia Li has promised to “purge” Kacy Catanzaro.
