WWE star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has signed on to star in the 3D disaster film “San Andreas.”
The movie will be released by New Line Cinema, was written by Carey & Chad Hayes and will be directed by Brad Peyton.
Rock’s character will attempt to make a journey across earthquake-ravaged California to rescue his estranged daughter.
The movie goes into production in the first quarter of 2014, so The Rock will have a tough time working for WWE next year heading into WrestleMania 30.
The Rock confirmed the role in San Andreas on Twitter this morning, writing:
Excited to make the first ever epic 3D disaster movie! A privilege to play the role. #FirstResponder #SanAndreas
