Update On Former NFL Player Signed By WWE And Trained By Booker T

As noted, WWE signed former NFL player Brennan Williams to a developmental deal. Williams, who has been working under the name Marcellus Black in his matches and appearances for WWE Hall Of Famer Booker T’s independent promotion, “Reality Of Wrestling,” (ROW) based in Houston, Texas. The Houston Press has a new article up on the recruit, which looks at his journey from football to pro wrestling.

“My NFL experience had put me in a frame of mind where I always prepared for the worst,” Williams said. “So [signing my WWE deal] was much cooler than signing my NFL contract. Seeing my name on the page with the WWE logo, it sent me over the hills.”

Williams has been working out at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida in preparation for his debut with the company. As seen above from an appearance he made for the aforementioned ROW promotion, his Marcellus Black character is somewhat similar in style to Finn Balor’s alter-ego, “The Demon King.”

Brennan “Marcellus Black” Williams entered the NFL as an offensive tackle standing 6’7” and weighing 300 pounds. He was drafted in the third round by the Houston Texas in the 2013 NFL Draft and made the practice squads for both the Jacksonville Jaguars and the New England Patriots. He began training with Booker T for his transition from football to wrestling last October.
