Asuka will be joining the Raw brand officially during the upcoming TLC pay-per-view. As a result, Asuka surrendered her NXT Women’s Championship, which she held for over 500 days. It was later announced that a Fatal 4-Way match will take place at NXT Takeover: Houston to determine the new champion. Ember Moon, Peyton Royce, and Mae Young Classic winner Kairi Sane have already qualified for the match. During last night’s NXT television tapings, Nikki Cross won a battle royal to earn the final spot in the match. The match will be taking place this November on the night before WWE’s annual Survivor Series pay-per-view.
Survivor Series is coming up fast on WWE’s schedule, and the company is hoping to make the show a memorable one. As recently as a few days ago, John Cena was advertised to appear on the show, and he was supposedly set to face off against Bray Wyatt. However, PWInsider now reports that he is no longer being advertised for the event, and will instead being appearing at a few shows that take place during the final week of the year. Cena may be set to miss out on the pay-per-view again, but Universal Champion Brock Lesnar is now being advertised to wrestle on the show now that Cena is unable to compete on the show.
Before last night’s set of NXT television tapings, Triple H alerted fans that he would not be attending Full Sail to oversee production of the shows. This is unusual since Triple H is typically very hands-on with WWE’s developmental territory. This was apparently due to the fact that he just recently announced a new tour in India and he is still in the country. This is the first time ever that he has missed a round of shows, but it was later confirmed that Triple H’s longtime friends Brian “Road Dogg” James and Shawn Michaels were in charge of last night’s tapings. James usually works as a producer and head writer of Smackdown, and Michaels has been helping out at the Performance Center more often as of late.
Gutted to miss my first @WWENXT taping ever while in @WWEIndia but I have the best team in the world doing it…Have a hell of a show!
