Update on Brock Lesnar’s WWE Future, Update on KUSHIDA in WWE

Throughout much of 2018, it was rumored that Brock Lesnar would leave WWE in order to resume training for a UFC comeback. Lesnar did make a few appearances for UFC, and a fight between Lesnar and UFC Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier was heavily teased for the future, but Brock still wrestles for WWE and is also still the Universal Champion. Brock Lesnar is also confirmed to defend the title against Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 35 this April as well. Will “The Beast Incarnate” continue to compete for WWE after WrestleMania 35 comes to an end this year? A brand new update on Lesnar’s plans for the future has just been posted in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
Brock Lesnar will continue to wrestle all the way up until at least WrestleMania 35 in New Jersey. According to the Observer, Lesnar will also likely stick around for WWE’s planned return to Saudi Arabia in May. Lesnar’s current deal with WWE does allow him to return to UFC, and he has also been tested recently in the USADA drug testing pool. What’s interesting about Lesnar’s wrestling future is that All Elite Wrestling has now entered the discussion. Wrestling Observer Radio claimed earlier this week AEW’s Chris Jericho wants to face Lesnar in a match during an AEW event. Jericho sent out a tweet insulting Lesnar earlier this week for that very reason. Expect Lesnar to negotiate with WWE, UFC, and AEW later on this year.
New Japan Pro Wrestling’s KUSHIDA has just wrapped up his run with the promotion and is now a free agent. It has been rumored for a couple of weeks now that he is likely on his way to WWE now. According to an update provided by the Wrestling Observer, KUSHIDA was interested in going to WWE and was convinced to join the company following a discussion with Jushin Liger. Fellow Japanese star Hideo Itami left WWE earlier this week and will likely be going back to Japan very soon. The Observer’s Dave Meltzer believes that KUSHIDA’s wrestling style and lack of charisma may end up marking his downfall in WWE. Hiroshi Tanahashi defeated KUSHIDA earlier this week, ending KUSHIDA’s 8-year run with NJPW.
