News notes: CM Punk/The Miz, NXT & AEW cards for tonight, more

WWE —

– In response to a video of The Miz that WWE on FOX posted after last night’s Backstage, CM Punk tweeted and then deleted “Go suck a blood money covered d*ck in Saudi Arabia you f*cking dork.” The video featured Miz talking to the show’s panelists and hyping his Backstage episode as the best ever. Miz said “Oh, sorry I didn’t change the culture. My bad, my bad.”

– WWE on FOX uploaded video of Miz’s interview on last night’s Backstage.

– After two weeks of taped episodes during the holiday season, NXT is back to airing live tonight. Here’s what’s set for the show:

– Sports Illustrated and The Sporting News spoke to Priest ahead of tonight’s NXT.

– During an appearance on Booker T’s Hall of Fame podcast, Ember Moon revealed that her ruptured Achilles injury happened during a 24/7 title chase segment in September.

– Ahead of NXT UK TakeOver: Blackpool II, Triple H was asked about potential future locations for UK TakeOvers: “In terms of future NXT UK TakeOver locations, @TripleH pinpoints London as a place on a priority list, as well as Dublin, to @AlexM_talkSPORT, before saying he’d love to go to Germany, France and Italy, too.”

– Prime Target: NXT UK TakeOver: Blackpool II will stream on the WWE Network at 3 p.m. Eastern time tomorrow.

– Chelsea Green was in action on WWE’s Main Event tapings for the second straight week, with her losing to Natalya on Monday.

– Kevin Owens was the in-studio guest on today’s episode of WWE’s The Bump.

– Samoa Joe and The Usos are appearing on Corey Graves’ After the Bell podcast tomorrow.

– Titus O’Neil has been announced as the grand marshal of the Krewe of the Knights of Sant’ Yago Illuminated Knight Parade in Tampa on February 8.

– Loudwire named Triple H their Metal Ambassador of the Decade.

AEW —

– Tonight’s Dynamite is being held at the Landers Center in Southaven, Mississippi. It’s being billed as the anniversary edition of the show, with it taking place one year to the date after the promotion’s Double or Nothing rally.

– Dave Meltzer tweeted that the Billy & Austin Gunn vs. Shawn Spears & Preston Vance match that wasn’t shown on last night’s AEW Dark episode was a dark match and wasn’t supposed to air.

– The Young Bucks made an appearance at last night’s Memphis Grizzlies vs. Minnesota Timberwolves game, taking part in a segment where they superkicked someone in a Timberwolves jersey.

– The New York Post has an interview with Cody.

Impact Wrestling —

– Impact officially announced that Eddie Edwards’ Call Your Shot trophy will be on the line when he faces Michael Elgin at Sunday’s Hard to Kill PPV. The trophy lets whoever holds it challenge for the Impact title of their choosing.

– Impact released a hype video for Hard to Kill.

UFC —

– Conor McGregor and Donald Cerrone will attend a pre-fight press conference in Las Vegas at the Pearl Theater next Wednesday. McGregor vs. Cerrone will headlined UFC 246 at the T-Mobile Arena on January 18.

Other —

– Tama Tonga and the Bullet Club are holding a Bullet Club Beach Party event at Whiskey Joe’s in Tampa on April 4. That’s the Saturday of WrestleMania weekend.

– Jeff Cobb vs. Tom Lawlor is set for AIW’s show at The Odeon in Cleveland, Ohio on February 7.
