While Delhi Was Struggling With Its Trash, DMRC Used The Waste Material To Build Beautiful Park

Just a week ago, textile hub Surat was in news for creating underground garbage dumps to deal with waste material. Metropolitan cities like Delhi and Mumbai are already dealing with space constraints, where do they make space for huge landfills?

Delhi generates 10,000 tonnes of municipal solid waste, 30 tonnes electronic waste, 70 tonnes biomedical waste, 4,000 tonnes construction/demolition waste and 800 tonnes plastic waste daily. However, the process to recycle this massive pile of waste are negligible.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has given a creative touch to construction waste, as a park consisting of amphitheatres, yoga spaces, a Trellis court and many other figures were established in East Delhi’s Shastri park, made entirely out of waste material.
