Tottenham Hotspur stadium update: Spurs ‘will announce’ opening date of new White Hart Lane next week

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly set to announce when they will be ready to open their new stadium.

Spurs’ redeveloped £1billion stadium was supposed to be ready to host Liverpool last September, but has been hit by numerous delays.

Daniel Levy had earmarked the north London derby against Arsenal on March 2 as a possible opening fixture for the ground but this was refused by Metropolitan Police chiefs due to security fears.

The Daily Mail report that Tottenham will finally confirm when White Hart Lane will be officially opened in the next seven days.

The matches against Crystal Palace on March 17 and Brighton on April 6 have been pencilled in as potential move-in dates.

Both games could be re-arranged, though, should Palace and Brighton progress in the FA Cup.

This could create a further stumbling block to the north London club as they may not wish their grand opening to be a mid-week fixture.

The Mail also earlier reported that should there be any further delay to the stadium, Premier League bosses would force them to play their remaining fixtures at Wembley.

After their match with Brighton, Spurs have just three more Premier League fixtures at home.

They face Huddersfield on April 13, West Ham on April 27 and Everton on May 12.
