Crystal Palace transfer news: Eagles considering shock deadline day move for Stoke forward Saido Berahino

Crystal Palace are considering a shock deadline day move for Stoke forward Saido Berahino.

Berahino, 25, was a youngster at West Brom while Eagles coach Roy Hodgson was manager at the Hawthorns, and he could reunite with the ex-England boss.

The Sun claim Berahino is one forward being considered by Palace, and Stoke are willing to let him leave before Thursday’s 11pm deadline.

He last scored a Premier League goal against the Eagles all the way back in February 2016, having failed to live up to the potential he showed during the 2014/15 season.

Berahino netted 14 top-flight goals that term, but has scored just 12 goals in all competitions in the three-and-a-half years since.

His most recently netted last month in Stoke’s 1-0 defeat of Millwall; Berahino has five goals to his name this season.

Hodgson hopes to add a new striker to Palace’s ranks before the January window shuts this evening, with only three teams scoring fewer than their 24 league goals in 2018/19.

Wednesday’s 1-1 draw with Southampton leaves Palace 15th in the Premier League table, four points clear of the relegation places.
