ArtWalk NY Celebrated Another Year of Fighting Homelessness with Art and a Good Time

All the coolest people in New York — artists, collectors, anyone who might qualify as an IRL “influencer” — came together on Wednesday evening to celebrate the 24th annual ArtWalk NY at Spring Studios. The event, sponsored by long-time partner Max Mara, spotlighted more than 100 works of art donated by artists and galleries for silent and live auction to benefit the Coalition for the Homeless’s cause to end homelessness in the city.

The pricey pieces ranged from $500 to $35,000, and guests — including co-chair Maria Giulia Maramotti, Max Mara’s U.S. retail director of fashion, as well as Debi Mazar and Norman Reedus — mingled and danced to music deejayed Elle Dee and Mia Moretti.

Drinks were flowing, with some help from Perrier Jouet, and delicious bites such as Korean Steak Tartare, Croque Monsieur, and Foie Gras Macaroons were provided by restaurant sponsors that included Manhatta, Acme, Claudette, and Colonia Verde.

ArtWalk NY named artist couple Marina Adams and Stanley Whitney as this year’s artist honorees, and Suzanne Siano as the philanthropic honoree. For Siano, it was important to encourage activism from the art lovers in attendance.

“Every day as I send my children off to school, I think of the thousands of children who travel miles to school and back to shelter — who live without certainty, privacy, or security and who have a much greater chance of becoming homeless adults,” said Siano. “Each of you here have the opportunity and the ability to help someone else.”
