A multitude of English reports this week have led us to reaffirm the reality of the situation and fact that Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette does not have a release clause of any kind whatsoever.
Release clauses are officially illegal in France in accordance with LFP rules. The only way in which such a clause could exist is if a separate contract not ratified by the French league was signed between a club, in this example, Lyon and a player, in this example Alexandre Lacazette, which is legally binding to the point where if OL receive a formal offer above a certain price (such is the case between Lassana Diarra and Marseille), they must allow the French international to speak with the club.
However, such an agreement does not exist, according to multiple, reputable French sources.
Furthermore, there has been much speculation about whether or not David Venditelli is still Alexandre Lacazette’s agent.
Despite numerous English agents attempting to get in on the act over a possible Lacazette transfer this summer, the player still remains under the exclusive purview of David Venditelli, we can confirm.
As for the player’s current situation, when there is actually news to publish, we will do so.
But for now, the situation remains exactly the same. West Ham United have been the most persistent in their attempts to sign Alexandre Lacazette this summer. However, the player has rebuffed them on multiple occasions as he wants to join a club offering Champions League football if he is to leave OL at all this summer.
West Ham made multiple bids for the player to Lyon, these were rejected because President Aulas considered them insufficient and also on the basis that he had been informed by Lacazette’s representatives that the striker was not interested.
The good news for Lacazette is that West Ham appear to have finally given up.
At the time of writing, Lyon are going to be even more difficult than usual if any deal is to be done this summer for Lacazette.
At the beginning of 2016, Jean Michel Aulas would have probably laughed at you if you told him that Barcelona would sign Samuel Umtiti in summer. This sale was unexpected and as a result puts OL in a better than anticipated financial position, which makes it even less likely that they would sell Lacazette this summer.
Initially, Aulas conceded that an offer worth €50m would be enough to make him consider a deal. However, according to certain indiscretions, thanks to Lyon’s current situation after the Umtiti deal and a considerable amount of interest in Lacazette from multiple sides, Aulas is understood to now only be willing to consider deals worth €60m upwards.
PSG remain the most active side in terms of attempting to land Lacazette this summer, and a bid appears to be imminent from them for the French international, despite President Aulas equivocally stating last week that the player would not be going to Paris.
