Talks between Ligue 1 side Marseille and French central midfielder William Vainqueur, which began with the intention to reach an agreement for a permanent stay following a loan spell from AS Roma.
La Provence report that negotiations between the two parties have all but broken down after Vainqueur felt that the offer from Marseille was unacceptable from a financial point of view as well as from a football one.
Marseille informed Vainqueur that they intend to sign a high quality defensive midfielder and that this would likely limit the Roma man’s playing time to appearances off the bench.
Lines of communication remain open, but the chances of a deal being reached are currently miniscule.
