United Rugby Championship: Glasgow Warriors bolster forward stocks

Glasgow Warriors have bolstered their forward stocks by signing front-row duo Lucio Sordoni and Gregor Hiddleston, who joins the club after successful trial periods.

Aregentina prop Sordoni has already represented the Warriors in two matches and has now joined them on a permanent basis after signing a two-year contract.

Meanwhile, 20-year-old Dumfries-born hooker Hiddleston joins on a partnership deal with Stirling Wolves.

Glasgow Warriors head coach Franco Smith is delighted that the club have acquired Sordoni and Hiddleston’s services.

Impressive work ethic

“Lucio has impressed us with his work ethic and grit in both games and in training and has thoroughly earned his long-term contact with us,” he told Glasgow’s official website. “Gregor is someone the club have been watching closely during his time with the Stirling Wolves and we’re pleased to be able to offer him the opportunity to grow and develop as part of our squad.”

Meanwhile, Warriors also confirmed Jack Dempsey will not train ahead of their United Rugby Championship encounter with the Bulls at Scotstoun on Saturday night. Dempsey sustained a rib injury during last weekend’s loss against the Ospreys in Swansea.

Warriors skipper Kyle Steyn will again be sidelined on Saturday night due to a hamstring injury but Jamie Dobie, Lewis Bean, Matt Fagerson and Nathan McBeth will return to training this week.
