France Football report that a host of Middle Eastern sides have an interest in acquiring Reims’ stand-out central defender Yunis Abdelhamid this summer, emanating mainly from Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
Abdelhamid played every minute of all 38 Ligue 1 matches this season and at the age of 31 is at the peak of his career – clubs in the French top flight and Turkey are interested in signing him, but the most pressing enthusiasm is coming from the Middle East.
Al-Duhail, where international team-mate Mehdi Benatia is currently playing, have expressed their interest in the player under contract until 2020 – they are managed by ex-Mourinho assistant Rui Faria.
Reims have held discussions with Abdelhamid about a contract extension, but no agreement has been reached yet.
