In a press conference covering Lyon’s financial results, club president Jean-Michel Aulas notably answered questions regarding the future of young midfielder Maxence Caqueret.
His words transcribed in RMC Sport, the Aulas was speaking in the wake of the 22-year-old’s comments earlier this week indicating that he did not know whether he would be at OL next season. Caqueret’s contract expires at the end of next season.
“To renew him, yes, but not at all costs, and not at any price. But we absolutely want him to stay.”
“He symbolises the academy’s triumphant youth. I’ve told him that I would make it a point of honour that he stays and becomes captain, with all his values and OL mindset. He’s a smart boy with smart agents.”
