PSG on verge of Hugo Ekitike agreement

L’Équipe are reporting that PSG are nearing an agreement with Stade de Reims for the transfer of Hugo Ekitike (20). A deal could be completed as early as tonight.

The deal is estimated to be worth €30m. Although the fee falls short of Newcastle’s offer for the France U20 international, Ekitike failed to agree on a move to the Tyneside club. A previous report from L’Équipe revealed that Ekitike was only willing to join PSG this summer, and was even prepared to remain at Reims for longer in order to secure his “dream” move.

Ekitike has already agreed on a five-year deal at PSG, and should the structure of the deal between the clubs be agreed upon, the striker will be able to quickly travel to Paris to complete his medical.

The deal, however, has not been fully completed. Although the Ligue 1 rivals are now closer to an agreement following a phone call on Thursday, “a few details still need to be settled.”

Should the deal go through, Ekitike would become the second signing of the Luis Campos era, following the arrival of Vitinha (22) from Porto on a €40m deal. The completion of the deal could also signal the end of PSG’s interest in Gianluca Scamacca. As reported yesterday by Fabrizio Romano, the Ligue 1 champions are unwilling to match Sassuolo’s €50m valuation of the Italian international striker.
