RMC Sport report tonight that Marseille have advanced in their efforts to bring in Ivorian defender Éric Bailly, with a loan deal with an option to buy set to take place for the Manchester United man.

The respective parties’ positions – OM, Bailly himself and the Premier League club – are said to have come closer in the last few hours, and last year’s Ligue 1 runners-up are optimistic about getting a deal over the line.
Marseille, on top of the dozen players they have already signed the summer, are looking to bring in another defender as well as a midfielder. For the latter position, talks have been opened with Atalanta for Ukraine international Ruslan Malinovskyi, in a move that could see Turkish winger Cengiz Ünder go the other way.
Bailly has been at Manchester United for the last six seasons, having previously turned out for Villarreal and Espanyol. He made four appearances in the league last season and has yet to play this campaign.
