Nottingham Forest agree deal to sign Serge Aurier

As reported by Foot Mercato, former Tottenham, Toulouse and PSG right-back Serge Aurier has agreed to join Nottingham Forest.

In search of a full-back, the newly-promoted Premier League side had agreed a deal with former Everton loanee Djibril Sidibé, who was released by Monaco at the end of last season, but the club’s leadership also offered the Ivorian international defender a deal and was the club’s preferred option.

The 29-year-old has accepted that offer, say the outlet, having been a free agent since leaving Villarreal at the end of June. However, his arrival doesn’t necessarily mean the deal to sign World Cup winner Sidibé is completely finished.

Aurier has already turned down an offer from Coupe de France winners Nantes while clubs from across the continent have been courting the player this summer, including Galatasaray, Fulham and Atlético Madrid. However, his €1.5m net salary demands proved too weighty for Montpellier.
