PSG could send youth on loan to Braga following QSI deal

L’Équipe report that Paris Saint-Germain owners QSI’s acquisition of a minority share in Braga could see new links created between the two clubs, notably with young players going out on loan to the latter team.

Qatar Sports Investments’ takeover of a 21.67% stake in the northern Portuguese club was made official yesterday morning, with Nasser Al-Khelaifi explaining that Braga “has some of the most passionate fans and one of the best talent scouting networks in the world”.

L’Équipe explain that QSI were enticed by the prospect of getting involved with Braga as the Europa League regulars are on the rise, have recently upgraded their youth infrastructure, and because from 2024 Portugal will have more teams qualify directly for the Champions league.

Although the ensuing partnership will not see Braga become a mere satellite club, young players could be sent out on loan to play for the team’s U23 side in the second tier. Two ex-PSG youth graduates in Jordan Monteiro and Enzo Tayamoutou already left the French club for Portugal back in July. The move would also allow PSG to be in pole position when it comes to bringing in local talents.
