RMC Sport are reporting that Braga striker Vitinha (22) has passed his medical ahead of a move to Olympique de Marseille, reported to be worth around €30m.
The Portuguese striker is set to sign a four-and-a-half-year deal with Les Phocéens following the completion of the medical this evening ahead of the transfer deadline, which is set to close in less than an hour’s time. The officialisation of his move is incoming.
According to RMC Sport, OM were impressed by Vitinha’s resolve to join Les Phocéens and have greatly increased their initial offer to sign him. Marseille were in the market for a striker following the failure to sign Nigerian international striker Terem Moffi (23) from Lorient.
Marseille reportedly trumped competition from Premier League sides Aston Villa, Brighton and Southampton by offering Braga a bid higher than Vitinha’s €30m release clause. Brighton’s interest in the player wavered, following reports that an injury to striker Evan Ferguson (18) was less severe than expected, according to The Athletic.
