As noted, tonight’s Impact Wrestling main event ended in a big cliffhanger as a broken and bloodied Sami Callihan managed to escape the murderous attempts of Eddie Edwards when his wife Alisha showed up, accompanied by ECW legend Tommy Dreamer to attempt to talk him down. And so the fight goes on.
The war between Callihan and Edwards started back in January when the “Death Machine” accidentally smashed his opponent in the skull with a baseball bat spot gone wrong, sending Eddie to the hospital where he nearly lost his eye to a broken orbital socket. Since then Impact has managed to turn the program into one of the hottest, most talked-about rivalries in the business today. Their bouts have spanned the last six months, taking place at numerous promotions including House of Hardcore and even the co-produced Lucha Underground event during WrestleMania weekend.
On this week’s Impact Wrestling the blood feud was supposed to come to an end, as Edwards agreed to fight Callihan in an unsanctioned street fight, literally venturing to the woods where there would be no rules, no ring and no stopping the violence until one of them was dead. Obviously, things didn’t work out as planed.
You can watch the entire Into the Woods Street Fight (sorry Disney) in the video below. As you can see, the company has been taking some serious inspiration with the filmmaking of the Broken Universe, as they’ve been taking a lot of really cool risks with the style and format of their shows as of late.
