Lance Storm Sounds Off on Fan Backlash Over Charlotte Flair’s Title Match vs. Becky Lynch

Former WWE Superstar Lance Storm recently sounded off on the upcoming SmackDown Women’s title match between Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch. Storm’s comments came on the the Figure Four Daily show, where the subject of fan backlash over Flair’s involvement was discussed.

A significant portion of the WWE audience was more than a little upset when Charlotte won her way into the title match with Lynch at Money in the Bank on May 19. Flair beat Bayley in a match on the April 23 edition of SmackDown Live to get the title shot and from that moment on, many fans immediately rejected the win.

Storm pointed out that even though some fans are fatigued over the Flair and Lynch rivalry, WWE really didn’t have any choice but to give The Queen the nod.

“She’s probably just going to the pay-per-view to lose again to Becky. If that is the case, it’s like, so do you want to take Ember Moon, someone who hasn’t had that run yet on top in WWE and beat her in her first match, just because well, we don’t want Charlotte in that spot again? It’s like they want everything they want the second they want it and they think they understand enough and obviously this is a vocal minority, I’m not saying everybody’s this dumb.

Everyone doesn’t deserve a shot and if everyone does, what does it mean? You put someone on TV three weeks in a row and everyone wants to b***h about it.”

Storm’s comments may sound a bit harsh but the fact is that fans may have rushed to judgment on this storyline. Becky became the Raw and SmackDown Women’s champion at WrestleMania 35 and since then, she’s had no real storyline to speak of. She’s also had not had the chance to get a defining win over Flair.

Every time Lynch has beaten Charlotte in the past, Flair has always come back for more. Lynch pinned Ronda Rousey at Mania, not Charlotte. So it could very well be that “The Man” will now get the definitive win over her greatest adversary of all time at Money in the Bank.
