The Reconstruction of Bayley
Asuka vs. Bayley at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn II

After finally battling her way up the ladder and winning the NXT Women’s Championship, watching the other members of the Four Horsewoman graduate to the main roster without her, Bayley then had the gold taken away from her by the unstoppable force known as Askuka. The two had a brutal match at Takeover: Dallas in which the Empress won the title by submission after the ultimate underdog refused to submit and actually passed out in the signature Asuka Lock.

This was to be Bayley’s attempt at a comeback match. She was beaten down and bruised, recently injured at the hands of Nia Jax, and was starting to doubt she had what it took to hang with the undefeated Empress of Tomorrow. As it turns out, her hunches were correct as Bayley once again fell to Asuka in an even better rematch during SummerSlam weekend. The Hugger would soon graduate to the main roster herself, but made sure to set up Asuka as the true champion-to-beat on her way out.
