The voting was very close in this category, with Cody Rhodes’ emotional victory at his own self-funded ALL IN event took a close second place, along with Kenny Omega finally defeating Kazuchika Okada to win the IWGP Heavyweight Championship at NJPW Dominion.
And while these moments didn’t receive any votes from our panel, Asuka winning the first ever Women’s Royal Rumble, Shinsuke Nakamura’s heel turn at WrestleMania 34, and Daniel Bryan’s recent heel turn and WWE Championship victory all made the list of nominees.
Ultimately, the greatest moment of 2018 was determined to be Becky Lynch’s blood invasion of WWE RAW on the go-home edition of the show, heading into Survivor Series. It was the moment that cemented The Man as the top star in the company, but would also lead to “punch heard ’round the world” from Nia Jax that put her on the shelf, potentially changing the course of plans for the rest of the year, as well as next year’s WrestleMania main event.
