Chelsea news: Maurizio Sarri apologises to angry fans after humiliating 4-0 defeat at Bournemouth

Irate Chelsea fans who confronted Maurizio Sarri after the Blues’ drubbing at Bournemouth received an apology from their manager.

Chelsea were thrashed 4-0 by the Cherries on Wednesday in their Premier League clash at the Vitality Stadium.

Sarri then locked his stars in the dressing room following the match for clear-the-air talks.

The Italian manager was stopped by angry Chelsea supporters who waited outside the stadium to make their feelings known, as shown in a video posted by The Sun.

One told the 60-year-old the performance was “disgusting” and called it the “worst performance he has ever seen”.

While the Blues boss was also questioned on whether he had it in him to motivate the under-performing players.

Sarri did not shy away from the complaints, though, and listened to what the fans had to say.

He said sorry a number of times to the fans before leaving on good terms.

The Chelsea manager was booed during the match for substituting new loan striker Gonzalo Higuain when his side were trailing 2-0.

This led to chants of ‘you don’t know what you’re doing’ from a section of the visiting support.

The defeat at Bournemouth was their heaviest in the Premier League since 1996 and saw Chelsea drop out of the Champions League places.

They have the chance to bounce back this weekend as strugglers Huddersfield Town visit Stamford Bridge.
