Speaking in an exclusive interview with Foot Mercato, Stoke City loanee and Manchester City striker Wilfried Bony discussed his frustration.
“Certainly like all players, I am finding it very difficult to live with since the moment that I have not been on the pitch. I came here to help Stoke City to climb the ladder. Today, I am not given the opportunity to help the team. I am not even coming on during the match when the team is behind. I am therefore frustrated and disappointed to not be able to make a contribution. When I see certain games when the team is behind, I can bring my experience, my desire, my qualities and that I am on the bench, it annoys me. I feel like I have no point here. As well, I came here to kickstart things. I am working very hard during training and also after with my personal coach at home in order to succeed. I am working in additional sessions with him to maintain my level of performance. I am giving myself what’s necessary to succeed. But nothing is changing and I do not know why.”
“I spoke to my agent and Txiki Begiristain who asked after me about 10 days ago. They told me that offers had come in from China. But I said that I was not interested. What I want is to play, to stay and to succeed in the Premier League. This is the best league in the world. Returning to Manchester, that would have been the easiest solution. I always follow my ideas through, I am not going to give up at the first hurdle. I could very well have accepted the enormous cheques being offered from China. That would have been even easier. They are very large financial offers. But what I want, is that I am left to play football, that I am left to do my job and to play in this super English league where I am convinced I can succeed.”
