Premiership: Saracens snap up Worcester Warriors duo on short-term deals

Saracens have announced the signings of Tom Howe and Andrew Kitchener on short-term deals, the pair joining from Worcester Warriors.

The duo arrive at the StoneX Stadium on three-month contracts and will provide cover to the squad for the upcoming Premiership fixtures, as Test action looms.

Wing Howe has been at the Warriors since 2017 while lock Kitchener has a wealth of experience in England’s top flight after coming through Worcester‘s academy.

New challenge for Howe

Howe revealed he is excited for a fresh challenge at Saracens.

“I’m really looking forward to joining Saracens and it truly is a once in a lifetime opportunity playing for one of the biggest clubs in world rugby,” he said.

“I’m thankful to the staff for signing me and can’t wait to get stuck into training with the boys and play with some of the best players in the game.

“The Worcester situation was heartbreaking and the club will always have a place in my heart. This new chapter is one my family and I are so excited for and I can’t wait to put the shirt on for the first time.”

Meanwhile, second-row Kitchener is also pleased to be moving to North London but admitted he was “gutted” to call time on his long stint at the Warriors.

“I’m gutted to have left Worcester having come through the academy and been a part of the club for so long, however I’m grateful for the opportunity Saracens have given me to be part of such a successful team and I am looking forward to getting started and meeting everyone,” he said.

Thoughts with Worcester

Saracens director of rugby Mark McCall welcomed both players to the Premiership outfit and is looking forward to seeing what they can offer at the club.

“Firstly, our thoughts are of course with everyone at Worcester Warriors during this very difficult time,” he said.

“We are excited to see the impact that Tom and Andrew can make in a Saracens shirt and with their experience I have no doubt that they will make the most of their time here.”

The double deal comes on the back of another Premiership side, Bath, confirming that Ollie Lawrence and Fergus Lee-Warner have joined on long-term deals.

The duo had originally inked short-term contracts but with relegation now confirmed for Worcester Warriors, the pair have since agreed new terms at the Rec.
