Rennes to make opening €20m offer to Lyon for Jeff Reine-Adélaïde

L’Équipe report that Ligue 1 rivals Rennes intend to make an audacious bid for Lyon’s France U21s international attacking midfielder Jeff Reine-Adélaïde, after the ex-Arsenal man announced his desire to quit OL last week.

SRFC are attempting a very impressive transfer window, with talks ongoing with Uruguayan international central defender Diego Godin’s camp as they seek to add another piece to their central defence.

They are also seeking to add to their attack and have spent weeks after ex-Chelsea and current Sassuolo player Jérémie Boga – competition for him is incredibly tough, with Napoli keen on him and with greater financial might to boot.

22-year-old Reine-Adélaïde, who injured himself last week on international duty, is currently in contact through his entourage with Bayer Leverkusen and Hertha Berlin. But now, Rennes have made a move.

Last night, an opening €20m bid from SRFC was due to be lodged to Lyon – this will almost certainly be rejected by Lyon, who spent €25m excluding bonuses on the Frenchman last summer, but it is a good basis from which to negotiate…
