SEVILLA 1-2 LILLE – Champions League, Group G
Lille:
Ivo Grbić, 5
Zeki Çelik, 6
José Fonte, 7 – Commanding and calm throughout, Fonte, for once, looked like the defender that led Lille to the title last season after some creaking displays this season at 37.
Tiago Djaló, 7
Reinildo Mandava, 6
Benjamin André, 8 – Brilliant. Ran the game for Lille and outplayed Delaney and friends for all 99 minutes. His passing was always on point and patrolled the midfield with authority throughout.
Renato Sanches, 7 – Faded in the second half a little before he was subbed with 15 minutes to play but his ability to turn away from challenges and progress the ball via his dribbling and passing was key to Lille’s full-throttle display.
Jonathan Bamba, 6
Jonathan Ikone, 8 – Often an infuriatingly inconsistent player, everything went right for Ikone here. He repeatedly found pockets of space in the Sevilla half to carry the ball or pick unusually well-considered passes while his intensity around the box was a threat. It was he who reacted quickest to Çelik’s shot off the post for the winner.
Jonathan David, 6
Timothy Weah, 5
Others: Xeka 5, Onana 5, Yazici 5.
