Alban Lafont becomes third ever goalkeeper to receive 10/10 rating from L’Équipe

Nantes goalkeeper Alban Lafont has become only the third goalkeeper to receive a 10/10 rating from L’Équipe following his exceptional performance in his team’s 3-1 win over Paris Saint-Germain last night.

The 23-year-old, who made eight saves and kept Neymar out from the penalty spot, is only the 13th player in total to be awarded the maximum rating.

The former Toulouse man, now captain of Les Canaris, stood tall against PSG’s star-studded attacking trident and kept out an expected 2.67 goals, the highest out of any goalkeeping performance this season.

He joins an illustrious and exclusive list including the likes of Lionel Messi (2010 and 2012), Robert Lewandowski (2013), and more recently Kylian Mbappé against Kazakhstan last autumn. The goalkeepers to receive the ratings were Lars Windfeld in 1997, for Aarhus against Nantes, and Bruno Martini in 1988 for the French U21 team in a 3-0 win over Greece.
