According to L’Équipe, David Blitzer’s proposition to buy Saint-Étienne is starting to fall on its feet, as the American businessman’s delegation currently at ASSE is failing to convince one of two co-owners of the club – Roland Romeyer. The club has until Thursday to decide whether to accept Blitzer’s new bid in the region of €60-80m.
After the club’s messy relegation to Ligue 2 and play-off scenes which led to a 3 point deduction, David Blitzer’s new offer for the club is yet to be accepted. L’Équipe report that Roland Romeyer is not convinced by the multi-club proposal. David Blitzer is already involved heavily at Crystal Palace (Premier League), AD ALcorcon (Spanish D2), Beveren (D2 Belgium), Augsburg (Bundesliga), and ADO Den Haag (Dutch D2).
During the exchanges between Blitzer’s delegation and Romeyer, the ASSE co-owner was unconvinced by Blitzer’s intentions for the club, who is also currently negotiating a takeover of Danish football club Brøndby IF. The American is reportedly using his company, Bolt Football Holding, as an investment platform – which he would be looking for a quick return on an investment that a return to Ligue 1 could give him.
So, where next for ASSE? If both co-owners accept the deal, Blitzer will become the new owner of Saint-Étienne by Thursday – however the pair could equally not respond to the offer and hypothetically negotiate with another buyer. Also on the table could be a potential extension for the period of exclusive negotiations until 7th July.
