Lens & Belgium striker Loïs Openda wants Thierry Henry as Red Devils boss

When asked by L’Équipe about the choice of the future boss of Belgium, Lens striker spoke about Thierry Henry in favourable terms, supporting the former assistant to Roberto Martinez as a potential candidate for the permanent job of his national side. 

The striker said “I’m in favour of Thierry Henry as some other players have already said in the media, he already knows the team, he has a good mentality, experience, I think we need that.”

Openda then admitted that he is in contact with Henry a lot, saying that “I’m learning off him, he was a great striker – I follow the advice he gives me”. The Lens striker then spoke of the inspirational nature of the legend of French football that Henry represents, “He is Thierry Henry, he did great things, he made us want to do the same.”

Whilst Openda had limited game time at the World Cup, he is currently firing all cylinders for Lens this season following his move from Bruges in the summer : he currently has eight goals in 17 appearances so far.
