Financial Fair Play could hamper PSG effort to sign Malcom as negotiations continue

According to L’Équipe Paris Saint-Germain’s pursuit of Zenit Saint Petersburg forward Malcom (25), has been hampered by financial fair play regulations. With just two days left in the transfer window, PSG has yet to make an official offer for the Brazilian player. The club had been pursuing Lyon’s Rayan Cherki (19) but that possibility has closed until next summer. PSG is eager to sign Malcom but financial restrictions have made it difficult to do so.

Zenit is willing to accept either a transfer or a loan with a nearly mandatory purchase option. PSG’s directors, Luis Campos and Nasser al-Khelaïfi, prefer a loan with a non-mandatory option. The two sides are still negotiating to find a mutually agreeable solution. Meanwhile, Malcom is eager to join the French capital.

Foot Mercato reported last week that the forward wants to join PSG, and was offered to the Ligue 1 club this window – he could come in as a replacement for Pablo Sarabia, who moved permanently to Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers.
