Two Names Advance in NXT Championship Series, Two Matches Announced For NXT During “WWE Week”

A series to find a new #1 contender to the NXT Championship kicked off this week’s episode of WWE NXT, with four big singles matches set to take place over the next few weeks. The winners of each match will face off in a fatal four-way bout, with the winner get a shot at Andrade Cien Almas’ title at NXT Takeover: Philadelphia at the start of 2018.

In this first of two qualifying matches on this week’s show, Killian Dain defeated the king of “Mustache Mountain” Trent Seven. And in the main event, Johnny Gargano filled in for an injured (storyline) Velveteen Dream, scoring a huge victory over Kassius Ohno in an absolute classic.

One more qualifying bout has been announced for next week’s WWE NXT on December 13th, which will of course be a part of the highly anticipated “WWE week” on the USA Network. The leader of “The Undisputed Era” Adam Cole will face his greatest challenge yet, as he takes on the devastating Aleister Black. Also announced is a non-title match between NXT Women’s Champion Ember Moon and Peyton Royce.
