Tonight’s NXT Preview: Dusty Classic Finals, Tegan Nox vs Dakota Kai, Cole’s Next Challenger Revealed & More

Another Wednesday, another evening packed full of great professional wrestling. This week’s episode of WWE NXT should be a big one coming off Worlds Collide and Royal Rumble weekend, which means we can shift our focus entirely to NXT Takeover: Portland on February 16.

The main event of tonight’s show will feature the finals of the 2020 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. The unlikely duo of Pete Dunne and Matt Riddle have had a challenging road thus far, knocking out two teams from the NXT UK roster, first Mark Andrews and Flash Morgan Webster, and later Fabian Aichner and Marcel Barthel of Imperium. They’ll face the Grizzled Young Veterans, James Drake and Zack Gibson, with the winners earning an NXT Tag Team Championship match at Takeover: Portland.

Tonight we will finally see former best friends, now bitter rivals Dakota Kai and Tegan Nox square off in singles competition. This one goes back quite awhile. These two were once a tag team, and have been friends for a very long time, but that all ended when Kai was left out of the original lineup for NXT Takeover: WarGames. She secretly attacked Mia Yim backstage before the WarGames match, snuck her way into the contest, only to brutally assault Nox and put her back on the shelf.

We have also been promised that NXT General Manager William Regal will announce the next challenger for Adam Cole and the NXT Championship at Takeover: Portland. It will also be our first week with new reigning North American Champion Keith Lee, we have a new Cruiserweight Champion, and more!
