NXT Women’s Champion Bayley recently spoke with WXYZ.com to promote this Saturday’s first-ever NXT live event in Detroit, Michigan, which takes place at the Royal Oak Music Center.
During the interview, Bayley spoke about winning the NXT Female Competitor of the Year and NXT Match of the Year awards, her thoughts on the Iron Woman match with Sasha Banks that won her the latter award, and her thoughts on potentially moving to the main WWE roster. Below are some of the highlights from the interview.
On winning the award for NXT Female Competitor and Match of the Year:
“Female Competitor of the Year, I was really surprised because of the other girls that were in it. The match of the year , I always get emotional when someone brings it up or talks about it. It was really cool. I’m glad to have something like that to share with her forever.”
On her thoughts about getting called up to the main WWE roster:
“Getting to WWE is always on my mind because it’s what I’ve wanted to be since I was 10. That’s my ultimate goal as much as I love NXT; I want to be on the big stage.”
On her reaction to being told she was going to do a 30-minute Iron Woman match as a main event with Sasha Banks:
“When Triple H told us, it’s funny, because I was just in disbelief. I was just like, ‘Is this real? Are we really going to do this?’ I could have cried throughout the whole match if I would’ve just let myself go,” she said. “That’s how much it meant to both of us.”
