WWE News: Roman Reigns, Vince McMahon, Paige, Lita & Trish, more

— As already reported, it appears that not very many people knew beforehand what Roman Reigns was going to be announcing to kick off Monday’s Raw, confirms PWInsider. They note that only “upper tier management” was told beforehand, which would seem to imply high-ranking WWE officials and members of the McMahon family, and that the reason for this secrecy was as a show of respect for Reigns, giving him the opportunity to tell everyone else on his terms.

— Vince McMahon was at neither Raw or Smackdown this week but as we noted in an earlier headline, he remains heavily involved via conference call.

— Both the Dean Ambrose heel turn and the Elias face turn were plans WWE had for the future but the Reigns announcement pretty much expedited those creative plans.

— Paige was backstage at Smackdown this week, but was not used on camera since Shane McMahon returned. We had already reported that Shane is expected to be back on TV a lot more regularly moving forward and one of the reasons he had stayed away was to allow Paige to establish herself as the authority figure.

— Alexa Bliss was off TV due to an injury – either a concussion as is rumored or perhaps a broken nose, according to PWInsider. There is no word on if or when she will be cleared and her status for Sunday’s WWE Evolution is unclear.

— Trish Stratus and Lita are in WWE’s plans to team up again in the future, perhaps at Survivor Series and WrestleMania. It would be an interesting development, if true, especially if WWE decides to move forward with women’s tag team titles soon.
