Finn Balor suffered a shoulder injury after Seth Rollins ‘Buckle Bombed’ the former NXT Champion into the barricade back at SummerSlam almost five months ago.
Finn managed to finish the match and pop his own shoulder back into place and then become the first ever Universal Champion, sadly though it was announced that Finn would require surgery and would be forced to rescind the title the day after he won it on Monday night Raw.
Fans have speculated since then that Finn would be making his return at next year’s 30th Anniversary of The Royal Rumble and he could possibly be one of the dark horses for the event.
This would have been an interesting twist, given that Kevin Owens still has the Universal Championship so Finn and Owens could rehash their NXT rivalry, but now reports suggest that Balor won’t be ready to return in January and that a return in April at WrestleMania 33 is much more likely.
Finn himself is currently helping WWE with new plans for the UK Championship and keeping himself occupied whilst he rehabs the injury.
