The next episode of AEW Dark will feature four matches after one was removed Saturday.
AEW announced Friday that Billy Gunn vs. John Skyler; The Natural Nightmares (Dustin Rhodes & QT Marshall) vs. Brandon Cutler & Peter Avalon; The Butcher & The Blade vs. Jon Cruz & Joe Alonzo, and Santana & Ortiz vs. Big Game Leroy & EJ Lewis will air on AEW Dark this Tuesday, June 2. The show will again continue the theme of largely featuring AEW wrestlers facing unsigned talent.
Shawn Spears vs. Clutch Adams was originally scheduled for the show, but after some homophobic and racist tweets surfaced over the weekend, Beyond Wrestling publicly announced they were cutting ties with Adams and AEW followed suit with Cody Rhodes tweeting the match was removed from the show.
Cutler and Avalon, who are teaming together on the show, have been feuding over who will get their first win in AEW. Cutler faced Michael Nakazawa on Dark this week. After the match ended in a countout, Avalon came out and mocked Cutler. Avalon then lost a match against Jungle Boy.
Cutler and Avalon eliminated each other at the same time during the battle royal on this Wednesday’s Dynamite to determine the first contender for Cody’s TNT Championship.
AEW began a storyline this week where Marshall has been distracted by Allie flirting with him.
The Butcher and The Blade attacked The Young Bucks on Dynamite this week after Nick Jackson accidentally superkicked The Blade while he was in the crowd. The debuting FTR then laid out Butcher and Blade.
These will be the first matches for Santana & Ortiz and Spears since their respective losses at Double or Nothing. The Inner Circle lost to The Elite & Matt Hardy in their Stadium Stampede match at the pay-per-view, while Dustin Rhodes defeated Spears.
