According to Dave Meltzer on a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Natalya was moved over to RAW specifically for Ronda Rousey. The belief is that they will pair up for a bit before Natalya turns on Rousey to set up a program between them. The two are not only training partners from well before things got serious with Rousey and the WWE, but they are really good friends off camera.
It is also likely that WWE would want Natalya to be Ronda’s first opponent because of this familiarity and the fact that protecting Rousey is obviously the top goal for WWE.
