WWE has confirmed that LaVar Ball will be appearing on tonight’s episode of Raw, and it looks like he’ll be bringing his son Lonzo with him.
Titus O’Neil first posted a picture with LaVar backstage at the Staples Center, with LaVar replying that their brands may be able to collaborate. WWE then uploaded a video where The Miz announced that LaVar and Lonzo Ball would be appearing on Miz TV tonight.
Pro Wrestling Sheet first reported over the weekend that WWE was working on a deal for LaVar to show up on Raw this week, with our Dave Meltzer noting that he had heard it was in the process of being worked out as well.
LaVar has become a controversial figure in sports media by playing something similar to a pro wrestling heel since Lonzo started to attract attention as an NBA prospect. LaVar has claimed that he would have beaten Michael Jordan in a game of one-on-one in his prime despite never making the NBA and has made outlandish statements about his son already being better than some of the best players in the NBA.
In addition to comments like those, LaVar has gotten constant publicity for pushing his family’s “Big Baller Brand” apparel company. Their signature product is a $495 pair of Lonzo Ball sneakers.
Lonzo was drafted second overall by the Los Angeles Lakers in last week’s NBA draft. The Ball family lives near LA and were pushing for him to end up with the Lakers during the draft process.
