In what was the most significant, and closest Monday night ratings race so far this year, a heavily criticized edition of Nitro on 9/11 scored the highest rating for the show in its regular opposed format since 1/10 and the closest margin between the two shows since 12/20. Nitro finished with a 3.20 rating (3.47 first hour; 2.93 second hour) and a 4.8 share. Raw did a 5.90 rating (5.36 first hour; 6.38 second hour) and an 8.9 share.

THURSDAY NEWS UPDATE
Ric Flair’s first public appearance will be at 7 p.m. tonight in Atlanta at the Variety Playhouse, doing a book signing with his daughter for their new book “Second Nature.”
FITE TV will be broadcasting 15 different live events this weekend from all over the world this weekend, the most in its history. The two big events Rizin from Fukuoka, Japan which starts at 1 a.m. Eastern and 10 p.m. Pacific on Saturday night, and features Frank Shamrock vs. Kazushi Sakuraba in a grappling match, and ROH Global Wars at 7 p.m. Sunday with Kenny Omega vs. Yoshi-Hashi for the U.S. title in Chicago.
Sunday’s ROH show in Chicago will be before the second largest crowd in the history of the promotion, in excess of 2,400. Tonight’s ROH show is sold out in Buffalo but there will be standing room tickets available.
Stephanie McMahon says that fans dictate what happens in WWE.
Impact Wrestling will be launching the Impact Wrestling Channel on Pluto TV today, on Ch. 204. This will be a 24-hour streaming channel using old and new Impact footage, and which will feature Xplosion every Friday night at 8 p.m. Eastern time. The channel is at www.impactwrestling.com and www.Pluto.tv.

Tim Means will face Belal Muhammad on the 11/18 show in Sydney, Australia. Means replaces Jesse Taylor, who was pulled from the show due to a drug test violation.
Due to an injury to Jeremy Kennedy, Humberto Bandenay will take his place against Alexander Volkanovski on the Sydney show. Volkanovski has a 12 fight winning streak.
Iuri Alcantara vs. Alejandro Perez has been added to the 12/9 show in Fresno.
UFC Fight Pass will be airing the Rico Verhoeven vs. Antonio Bigfoot Silva kickboxing massacre for free from Guangzhou, China. The fight is expected to air about 8 a.m. Eastern time on Saturday morning.

Tickets go on sale on 10/20 for the MLW show on 12/7 in Orlando at MLW.com. Matt Riddle vs. Tom Lawlor will be on the show and Tony Schiavone will be announcing with Rich Bocchini (Rich Brennan).

Chidi Njokuani vs. Hisaki Kato was announced for the 12/1 Bellator show in Thackerville, OK. Njokuani is moving from welterweight to middleweight. The show is headlined by women’s featherweight champion Julia Budd facing Arlene Blencowe.
Former UFC fighter Valerie Letourneau debuts in Bellator on 12/15 in a show in Newcastle, England. Letourneau will face Kate Jackson.
Justin Roberts’ book “Best Seat In The House: Your Backstage Pass Through My WWE Journey” will be available as an e-book on Amazon.com and BarnesandNoble.com for 24 hours tomorrow for just 99 cents. The book spent ten weeks on the top 50 charts of best selling sports books when it was released earlier this year.
International Big Time Wrestling on 10/22 in Westland, MI at the Tokem Lounge at 4 p.m. featuring Tammy Sytch as a referee of the main event between the Fat World Order vs. Revenge of the Nerds.

There will be another Championship Wrestling from Florida legends fanfest on 10/28 in Odessa, FL at American Legion Post 147. There will be a fan fest from 2:30 to 5 p.m., an awards ceremony from 5 to 5:30 pm. and dinner from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Appearing will be J.J. Dillon, Kevin Sullivan, Rocky Johnson, Brian Blair, Sherri Lee and Tony Marino. In a trivia note, yesterday was the 46th anniversary of Dillon’s first-ever match in Florida, as he worked in a mixed tag team opener in West Palm Beach teaming with June Peterson to lose to Les Welch & Sherri Lee. The main event on the October 11, 1971, show was Buddy Fuller vs. Leo Garibaldi.
