-Ric Flair has been added to the Nov. 25 “Starrcade” WWE live event in Greensboro, N.C. Flair has a rich history in that arena, during the peak years of his matches in the 1980s. The announced line-up includes A.J. Styles defending the WWE Title against Jinder Mahal, Charlotte defending the WWE Smackdown Women’s Title against Natalya in a cage match, Baron Corbin defending the U.S. Title against Shinsuke Nakamura for the U.S. Title, Bobby Roode vs. Dolph Ziggler, Dustin Rhodes vs. Dash Wilder, plus appearances by The Hardy Boyz, The Rock & Roll Express, and Ricky Steamboat. It’s notable that Dustin is appearing as himself; his father Dusty Rhodes often headlines in that arena during the 1980s, also.
-NWA World Hvt. Champion Tim Storm’s next challenger comes this Friday in Clarksville, Tenn. against Jocesphus on a Tried and True Pro Wrestling event. New NWA owner William Patrick Corrigan (a/k/a Billy Corgan of the Smashing Pumpkins) announced an “Open for Business” policy for the NWA World’s Champion, and this story will be covered in the next “Ten Pounds of Gold” video series next week. Tim Storm defeated Nick Aldis this Sunday on a Championship Wrestling from Hollywood event, and a video is now available of his reaction right after the win HERE and an interview later about the reaction of his family and students HERE.
-James Ellsworth’s run with WWE has come to an end, and he’ll start taking independent bookings starting February 12. He Tweeted that Smackdown Live “will always hold a huge place in my heart, what a great locker room. I’ll miss you all. Thank you.” Colleagues sent well wishes, also.
