Treviso surprised Cuneo in second semifinal game. "I am convinced that Cuneo will be back at a very high level in its gym. But we can step up too, especially on the serve" said head coach of Treviso R. Piazza.
Sisley Treviso – Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo 3:0
It’s all back to 0-0 or almost for Cuneo and Treviso. On Sunday, they will fight it out in game 3. Cuneo had won the opener but Treviso tied it. It goes back to Cuneo, still without Kohut, but with a lot of confidence thanks to Wednesday’s convincing home performance at the PalaVerde. Cuneo will be up for it and will surely do its best to win this 76th meeting between the two teams.
Alberto Giuliani (Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo): “Game 2 is behind us. Now we have to focus on Sunday’s game: that’s the way to do it in the playoffs. Game 3 now has the same value as game 1, we are tied again and have to start from scratch. We must show our motivation and be ready to face, and we knew it, a very strong opponent. Our preparation remained the same, I really liked the attitude we had in game 1 so let’s try to do that again, and even improve."
Roberto Piazza (Sisley Treviso): “I am convinced that Cuneo will be back at a very high level on Sunday in its gym. But we can step up too, especially on the serve. Still, it will be a different game than Wednesday’s. I think Cuneo played under its usual standard in Treviso, we did well to take advantage of it and control the game. We’d better forget about waiting for their mistakes, it won’t happen, we’ll have to do the job to take things in our hand. It won’t be easy, as I’ve said various times before, the two teams are close so each game is unpredictable”.
Lube Banca Marche Macerata – Itas Diatec Trentino 2:3
The hosts are 2-0 up in the series and have a chance to finish the job off and focus on the Champions League Final Four, which will take place on the first and second of May. If Trento win, it would still be unbeaten in the playoffs and also at home this season. As for Macerata, it will try to extend the series to host game 4, but to do so, they will have to defeat a team which has been never beaten this season at home.
Osmany Juantorena (Itas Diatec Trentino): “Game 3? Even more difficult than the previous ones. I don’t really like to hear that the series is over. Macerata improved in this series and they will come here without any fear and nothing to lose. We’ll have to be careful, and stay focused, because they won’t give anything away. A victory would be fantastic for various reasons: this would take us to another league final but it would also give us more time to prepare the Champions League Final Four. We are extremely motivated and we’ll have our fans on our part too”.
Igor Omrcen (Lube Banca Marche Macerata): “We don’t think it’s over at all, even if coming back from a 2-0 deficit against Trento is certainly not easy. We’ll do everything possible to get back home for game 4, to play once more in front of our fans, the other day at home we went really close to tie it at 1-1”.
