Alexander Rondos has been appointed as the EU’s special representative for the Horn of Africa. The EUSR’s job is to contribute to efforts to achieve peace, security and development in Djibouti, Eritrea, Kenya, Somalia, South Sudan and Uganda. Rondos has held senior posts in the Greek prime minister’s office, the Greek ministry of foreign affairs and at the World Bank. He will take office on 1 January and his mandate will initially run until 30 June.
Humberto Delgado Rosa has been appointed director in the European Commission’s department for climate action, dealing with low-carbon technology.
Hans-Joachim Reck, the managing director of Verband kommunaler Unternehmen (VKU), the German association of municipal enterprises, has been appointed president of CEEP, the European centre of employers and enterprises providing public services. Reck succeeds Carl Cederschiöld, who has been president of CEEP since December 2008.
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development has appointed Elizabeth J. Nelson as vice-president, risk and resources. Nelson was previously head of the credit department at the UK’s Financial Services Authority. She replaces Horst Reichenbach, who heads the EU’s taskforce on Greece.
