Supreme Court Stays Cutting Any More Trees In Aarey After 2134 Trees Already Axed Since Friday

The Supreme Court of India in its order on petitions demanding stay on the trees being felled in Mumbai’s Aarey Colony has ordered that no more trees should be cut while also recording an undertaking by the Maharashtra government to assure the same. The order comes after at least 2134 trees have already been chopped.

The top court further ordered the Mumbai police to release all the activists who were detained after their vociferous protests over the past two days in India’s financial capital.
