Watch out, Michael Phelps. You may have some serious future competition on your hands. The swimmer and most decorated Olympian of all time took his 2-month old son Boomer into the pool this week and captured it on camera. He and his fiancĂ©e Nicole Johnson even shared the special family moment on Instagram. On a darling photo of him holding his infant son in the water, he wrote, “The little man loved the water today!! @boomerrphelps and I got some extra laps in today!!”
Boomer, who is the first child for the couple, also shared photos on his own Instagram account (though we are thinking he had some assistance). In a group photo with his parents he “wrote,” “I loved going in the pool today with @nicole.m.johnson (mommy) and @m_phelps00 (daddy) today! Can’t wait til I get to learn to swim from daddy and @coach_bowman!” Baby Boomer was referring to Phelps’s long-time coach, Bob Bowman.

The proud mom also shared a photo of her lounging on a pool float with her son resting on her. She wrote, “@boomerrphelps and I#relax while daddy @m_phelps00 works.”
And the amazing athlete is certainly working as he will be heading to the Olympics in Rio this August. Though he retired after the 2012 London Olympics, the 31-year-old announced he would go back into training for Rio and last week in Omaha, he qualified in three individual distances and possibly three relays, for the U.S. Olympic swimming team.
Looks like he may be adding to his collection of 22 Olympic medals (18 of them gold) this summer. But we’re thinking he may even be more excited about his future swimming days with little Boomer.
