Game of Thrones only has one more season until it reaches its sure-to-be dramatic conclusion, but HBO isn’t about to let the fan-favorite franchise die down. The network has already announced five prequels in the works.
While we don’t know what any of the new series will be about, Game of Thrones star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau told us he’d be down to play one specific role. The 40-year-old actor joked that he’d love to play a young version of his character, Jaime Lannister. “I would come back and play the prequel, play the 16-year-old Jaime. I could pull that off,” he told InStyle, flashing a devilishly handsome smile.

Sadly for us, HBO has said that the new series won’t involve any current cast members, so Coster-Waldau’s dream likely won’t become a reality. As for what’s next after Game of Thrones, the actor is not sure if he’d sign on to another long-term series. “I’ve been shooting movies all the time. I love them. I might do another show. There are so many great stories out there. I’m very lucky that way. I’m not going to do another Game of Thrones kind of show, for sure,” he told InStyle.

While he’ll miss the cast, after eight seasons, he’s ready to move on. “I’m going to miss the people, but we’ve told the story. It takes a lot of space in a very good way, but I don’t think it’s healthy for anyone with the kind of attention you’re getting. It’s so big, the show now.”
With record-breaking viewership and not one but five spinoffs on the way, we’d say “big” doesn’t even begin to cut it.
