Charity shops see less fashion donations

Recent reports have suggested that whilst shoppers are flocking to charity shops to buy affordable fashion, donations have almost dried up. In a report by The Guardian, across the UK charity shops are suffering as people are buying fewer new goods so they are less likely to donate what they have.

David Moir, from the Association for Charity Shops stated: “We are taking every opportunity to encourage people to donate. There are millions of garments sitting in wardrobes not being used, and we can turn them into vital funds for charities.”

Perhaps these items are not being sold on online auction sites such as eBay to make a small profit, rather than being donated for free, but at the moment this can only be speculated says Moir. What is surprising that in the era of online shops is how many high qulity belongs people donate.

Charity shops are thought to take profits of up to GBP600 a year.
