Arsenal Team News: Injuries, suspensions and line-up vs Newcastle

Everything you need to know ahead of the Premier League match at St James’ Park on Saturday

Arsenal’s last trip to St James’ Park ended in a 2-1 defeat towards the back end of last season, with head coach Unai Emery hoping for a more positive result when his side face Rafa Benitez’s men on Saturday.

The Gunners have conceded eight goals in their opening four Premier League games so far, but recorded a narrow win in their last game against Cardiff before the international break.

However, Newcastle have only beaten Arsenal twice in 23 meetings in all competitions (D5, L16) and will come up against an Emery team who are looking to win consecutive Premier League away matches for the first time since May 2017.

Alex Iwobi is back after illness, while left-back Sead Kolasinac and Ainsley Maitland-Niles are on the road to recovery following their long-term injuries.

Long-term absentee Laurent Koscielny is back in light training, while Carl Jenkinson remains out with an ankle injury.

Arsenal have no suspensions for this game.

Emery could decide to bring Henrikh Mkhitaryan back into the starting XI ahead of youngster Matteo Guendouzi.

Alexandre Lacazette is expected to start following his goal and assist against Cardiff, while Mesut Ozil looks likely to play behind the Frenchman.

Salomon Rondon and DeAndre Yedlin will be fit to play despite returning late from international duty, with midfielders Matt Ritchie and Jonjo Shelvey expected to return to training following their injury problems.

Kick-off is 3:00pm BST (10am ET) on Saturday September 15, and the game will not be shown on live TV the United Kingdom. It will be shown on NBC in the United States, and on various channels around the world.
